Shadows help us to see things three- dimensionally,modelling faces and objects, and bringing out surface textures and details. A diffuse mess of lighting devoid of shadows is perceived as unpleasant. However very strong shadows with hard edges can also be annoying.The ideal shadows are well-balanced, allowing us to readily perceive forms and textures. Faces of friendsand associates sitting around the meeting table will be shown off to optimal effect.
