| Light for a new luxury design hotel. In the centre of Kuwait City’s shopping district, together with the Italian fashion house MISSONI, the Rezidor Hotel Group has opened a design hotel which is in a class of its own: the Hotel MISSONI KUWAIT. Nestled in the Symphony Centre, a boutique department store, it boasts 169 rooms and suites, conference rooms, a fitness centre, steam bath, sauna, swimming pool, two restaurants serving Italian and Arabic-Oriental cuisine, a cafe, pool bar and its own theatre. Employees from seventeen nations attend to the wellbeing of the guests who are indulged and inspired here on the Arabian Gulf by the rich culture of Kuwait. The Creative Director Rosita Missoni combined the furnishings with her typical patterns and bold colours. Turquoise, green and gold set strong tones and form a central theme throughout the interior of the hotel. For the lighting, Rosita Missoni was looking for a special solution. This should combine the interior with the typical Missoni design theme of the curtains. The idea was to create a special construction with a spiral arrangement of lights to match the typical Missoni curtains - a kind chandelier, made up of curtain and luminaires. For a total of eleven different chandeliers, wooden panels of differing sizes were made. The panels are designed to be mounted flush with the ceiling, so that no transitions are visible. They are fitted with specially curved, concentric and gilded VIA circles which are solely for the purpose of fixing the curtain-fringes. The subtle and inconspicuous flush mounting plug contacts POINT 10 R and POINT 60 R were then mounted into the wooden structures. The spirally arranged, especially gilded pendant lights and the cylindrical, interlaced fringe curtains give the chandeliers an overall impression of radiance and luminosity. With their atmospheric light, the chandeliers underscore the very special character of the rooms. A total of 708 pendant luminaires of the type CLASSIC / DOWN PNT were employed at the hotel. Some of them were suspended by up to eight meters. The gilded CLASSIC / DOWN luminaires are also fitted with a glitter cap, which gives their light a radiant sparkle.
